Course Objectives:
This one-day workshop aims to provide professionals with practical education on working therapeutically with Neurodivergent Adolescent Clients. Covering a wide range of topics, the course equips learners with skills necessary for effective Neuro-Affirmative therapeutic intervention.

- Understanding developmental challenges through the lenses of neurodiversity
- The importance of Neuro Affirmative language
- The importance of the Therapeutic Space
- Intake assessment process
- Parenting involvement
- The role of assessment & diagnosis in the therapeutic process
- Multidisciplinary work & collaboration
The training methods for this course include:
- Tutor presentation of each individual topic
- Group Discussions, brainstorming the most common challenges
- Breakout sessions
- Case studies
- Practical exercise
The typical resources used in delivery of this course would be:

Target Audience:Professionals working with neurodivergent adolescents both in therapeutic and educational settings.

Expected Learning Outcomes: The participants would expect to learn from this course about:
- the fundamental requirements when working therapeutically with neurodivergent teens;
- the most common developmental challenges faced by neurodivergent adolescents;

- useful therapeutic skills to support neurodivergent adolescents wellbeing and mental health.
By the end of this training the participants would be able to:
- Demonstrate basic knowledge about the fundamental requirements when working with neurodivergent teens
- Outline the most common challenges for neurodivergent adolescents
- Become familiar with neurodiversity specific / appropriate language and terminology
- Utilise the newly gained knowledge when setting the therapeutic space and developing plans for supporting neurodivergent adolescents
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of the use of neuro affirmative language;
- Demonstrate therapeutic skills to provide emotional support to neurodivergent adolescents
- Incorporate the use of available resource;
- Evaluate the support plan effectiveness and research further resources available
- Demonstrate skills to work collaboratively with other agencies when providing support to adolescents
