Course Objectives:

This one-day workshop aims to provide professionals with practical education on working therapeutically with Neurodivergent Adolescent Clients. Covering a wide range of topics, the course equips learners with skills necessary for effective Neuro-Affirmative therapeutic intervention.

  • The importance of the Therapeutic Space

  • Parenting involvement
  • The role of assessment & diagnosis in the therapeutic process
  • Multidisciplinary work & collaboration

  • Group Discussions, brainstorming the most common challenges

Target Audience:Professionals working with neurodivergent adolescents both in therapeutic and educational settings.

By the end of this training the participants would be able to:

  • Demonstrate basic knowledge about the fundamental requirements when working with neurodivergent teens
  • Outline the most common challenges for neurodivergent adolescents
  • Become familiar with neurodiversity specific / appropriate language and terminology
  • Utilise the newly gained knowledge when setting the therapeutic space and developing plans for supporting neurodivergent adolescents
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of the use of neuro affirmative language;
  • Demonstrate therapeutic skills to provide emotional support to neurodivergent adolescents
  • Incorporate the use of available resource;
  • Evaluate the support plan effectiveness and research further resources available
  • Demonstrate skills to work collaboratively with other agencies when providing support to adolescents
